Built to produce large diesel engines, aerospace parts, and other components, MAG offers the giant six-axis U6 bridge-type portal mill. The machine weighs nearly 154 t (170 ton) and is outfitted with five interchangeable cutting heads (including two custom designs) to allow five-sided machining. Equipped to deliver up to 74.5 kW into the cut, the machine can complete all six sides of a 5900-kg (13,000-lb) 16- or 20-cylinder diesel engine block in three setups at a total time of about 30 h, according to MAG. The turnkey solution includes the machine, special spindle heads, cutting tools, part programs, and work-holding fixture. The machine's robust construction makes it suitable for heavy cuts in large cast iron, steel, Inconel, and titanium parts encountered in aerospace, off-road, energy, marine, and mining equipment.
