At Bauma China, Terex launched its new 55-t (60-ton) capacity class Powerlift 1000 crawler crane specifically for general contractors throughout China, Russia, and India involved in infrastructure and bridge construction, placement of critical equipment on high-rise buildings, and power plant and petrochemical installations.
“The crane offers the most compact design in its class without sacrificing lift or reach capabilities,” said Ken Lousberg, President of Terex China. He added that the crane will be built in Terex’s Jinan, China facility.
This new lattice boom crawler crane offers up to a 55-m (180-ft) main boom and a maximum 61-m (200-ft) system length. Customers can equip the Powerlift 1000 with 6-, 9-, 12-, or 15-m (19-, 29-, 39-, or 49-ft) fixed jibs, which offer 10° and 30° offsets to increase versatility at the jobsite. Lousberg claims it offers the longest main boom and fixed jib reach among competitive cranes.
Its self-rigging design boom affords fast and easy onsite setup. Class-leading high/low lifting speed settings of 124/73 m/min provide the flexibility to match line speed to the load and increase lifting efficiency.
At only 3-m (10-ft) wide, the Powerlift 1000 is said to boast a 10% narrower structure than its closest competitor. According to Terex, it is the only crane within its class that can fit through the narrow toll-ways that contractors in China must go through, saving transport time and money.
In terms of the operator environment, the new crane is offered with the same Terex cab design found on similar cranes operating worldwide. Using operator feedback as the foundation along with ergonomics experts from the automotive industry, the new cab is equipped with controls that are positioned explicitly for efficient operation, while offering more inside space for operators.
Large windows and a glass rooftop combine to improve visibility of the work area. A heater and air conditioning system with individual outlets, ergonomic multi-adjustable seat with lumbar support, and premium stereo system provide a comfortable work environment to boost operator productivity.
The crawler crane is powered by a 155-kW (208-hp) six-cylinder diesel engine that meets China’s national III emissions standards. Walkways with handrails and antiskid plates and a roof guard increase operator safety. Conveniently located service points on the crane’s drivetrain and upper structure reduce maintenance time and increase uptime.
