Webb Wheel introduces the Vortex Unlimited cast brake drum for common steer, drive, and trailer axle applications. Designed for durability, Vortex Unlimited runs cooler because of improved heat transfer efficiency. A center squealer band strengthens the drum, while cast-in exterior ribs conduct heat away from the brake surface, reducing operating temperatures. Dynamometer testing shows the heat generated by the Vortex Unlimited during a braking event is less than with a standard brake drum. Running with lower temperatures extends drum and lining life and improves stopping performance, according to the company, while drive and trailer axle configurations with Webb Wheel’s wear indicator further extend operating life.
