Gates’ low-permeation Barricade hose prevents fuel vapor loss while delivering peak fuel efficiency. The hose is designed for virtually any engine application that is equipped with a conventional carburetor, including cars, trucks, ATVs, tractors, and lawn and garden equipment. According to the company, the Barricade hose is the lowest permeation, multifuel compatible hose on the market today. Its Greenshield barrier technology allows Barricade to exceed stringent California Air Resource Board, EPA, and other state and federal requirements. With an average annual fuel savings of about 1 gal (3.8 L) per vehicle, Barricade hose can reduce the amount of gasoline consumed by U.S. motorists. With its built-in, five-layer Greenshield barrier technology, the Barricade hose achieves five times less fuel vapor permeation (1 g/m²) and fuel waste than conventional hoses. Unlike standard fuel line hoses, Barricade hose can accommodate more fuel types, including gasohol, diesel, biodiesel, ethanol, gasoline, and methanol.

Rayconnect has introduced a range of self-heating fluid connectors for integration into truck pollutant removal systems in the heavy-duty industry. The connectors help keep the tubing above -11°C (+12°F) to prevent the urea-based fluid used in the selective catalytic reduction process from freezing. The company is working to develop a compromise for energy consumed by these connectors, which have a power supply and are heated by a thermistor. The goal is to minimize energy consumption and reduce the circuit heating time in order to offer an economical alternative vs. externally heated connector systems.

Torotrak has partnered with Allison Transmission to develop a medium-duty truck transmission that will feature Torotrak's full-toroidal transmission technology, which provides the ratio range not through a system of gears but by a full-toroidal variator that consists of a set of discs and rollers, making the infinitely variable transmission torque-controlled rather than ratio- controlled. Tube Fab/Roman Engineering offers an engine oil pickup tube assembly for diesel and gasoline engines. The design allows a 50% increased filtration area, according to the company, as well as an increased volume throughput. Other features include a decreased blockage potential with improved screen size options and a smaller footprint in the oil pan area. The number of components in the assembly is reduced from six or seven to three, thereby decreasing costs, and the assembly can be manufactured in various tube sizes to meet oil distribution requirements.
