JCB's 55-kW (74-hp) Tier 4 Interim mechanical engine received certification in the 55 to 129 kW (74 to 173 hp) Tier 4I range and prompted plans to launch a Stage 3A G-Drive engine range. The company will pursue emissions reduction at the source with the updated combustion system design, enabling a portion of the G-Drive range to use mechanical fuel injection systems and simplifying installation, according to the company. JCB's current Dieselmax and Ecomax engine range features reliability, increased engine response, long service intervals, and improved fuel economy, with no diesel particulate filter. Fitted on thousands of mobile applications, the engines offer a 5 to 10% improvement in fuel consumption over Tier 3 engines and 375 to 750 N•m (277 to 553 lb•ft) torque levels at low engine speeds.
