The Dearborn Protocol Adapter (DPA 5) from DG Technologies is a dual- or quad-CAN vehicle network translator device offering OEM diagnostics and electronic control unit (ECU) reprogramming capabilities in a single device for both the commercial vehicle and automotive industries. The DPA 5 utilizes both SAE J2534 and TMC RP1210 as co-existing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), enabling network communication regardless of vehicle type. The device works not only with vehicle network diagnostics, but also with OEM software to provide for ECU modification that includes reprogramming, end-of-line testing, development, and ancillary diagnostics (non-OEM). The DPA 5 comes in two versions: wireless dual CAN with Bluetooth technology and wired quad CAN, in support of the growing number of vehicle networks many OEMs are deploying on a vehicle platform.
