Delphi’s lane-departure warning system uses lane tracking via a camera and image processing to detect painted lane markers up to 25 m (92 ft) ahead of the equipped vehicle. The vehicle's heading and lateral position are considered in providing the appropriate warning. The camera is mounted behind the wiped area of the windshield and can be shared with the Delphi Active Night Vision system. Audible, tactile, and/or visual driver warnings can be provided, depending on the OEM-customer's preference. The system is extendable to lane-keeping via integration with electronic power steering and controllable brakes.
