Pi Innov’s OpenECU M470 electronic control unit (ECU) supports up to eight-cylinder engine management on applications ranging from heavy-duty diesel to high-performance motorsport. The M470 hardware design is based on Nira Control’s NIRA i7 series of ECUs. Pi Innovo and Nira Control have collaborated to port the OpenECU platform software to the NIRA i7 series. The unit is supplied in a rugged, sealed metal housing designed to be mounted on the engine and features IP67 environmental protection. Its 196 connector pins offer conditioned inputs and outputs for a very wide range of sensor and actuator types, according to Pi Innov. The M470 (NIRA i7) adds support in the OpenECU module range for modern gasoline and common-rail diesel engine management requiring advanced fuel-injection strategies with multiple injections per stroke.
