EuroNCAP says that from 2014, new cars in Europe will almost certainly need to be equipped with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) to gain a 5-star safety rating. From November 2013, the European Type Approval of new commercial vehicles will require AEB to be fitted.

Audi reveals that it has developed a rearview mirror for its R18 Le Mans racecar using digital technology that may eventually prove to be a viable solution for road cars. The system's first application in a closed cockpit LMP sports prototype will be the Le Mans 24-hour race on June 16-17.
