DfR Solutions’ Sherlock Automated Design Analysis physics-of-failure (PoF)-based design software analyzes, grades, and certifies the expected reliability of products at the circuit card assembly level. The application-specific computer aided engineering (CAE-App) program automates the power of finite element analysis (FEA) to perform a PoF durability simulation to verify that a module’s design is robust enough to endure the harsh automotive environment. The software’s intuitive commands and ease of use allow a broad range of engineers and managers to use it, and its rapid results provide almost immediate feedback on product designs and their performance in the hands of the customer, according to the company. Performing this Design for Reliability (DfR) assessment while the design is still on a CAD screen saves the time and cost of months of building and durability-testing prototype parts for PPAP (production part approval process) design verification/production validation (DV/PV) approval.
