Designed for realistic 3-D modeling of fuel effects in internal-combustion engines, Reaction Design’s CFD package FORTÉ will feature new added predictive capabilities for engineers solving complex engine design problems. Slated for availability later this year, FORTÉ will offer engineers the ability to accurately simulate soot particle-size distributions, as well as total particulate-matter emissions. The ability to predict soot particle sizes and track their progress from formation through agglomeration and reduction in an engine is of significant benefit for engine developers, claims Reaction Design. According to the company, it allows them to better address air quality regulations and reduce design cycle time.
