Midtronics’ software update to its HYB-1000 hybrid battery system analyzer extends the list of hybrid vehicles it supports to 12. Offering a safe, one-person test, the HYB-1000, which was introduced in 2010, is the industry’s first battery system analyzer developed exclusively for hybrid vehicles, claims the company. The device communicates to the vehicle onboard diagnostics system using a wireless convergence module that allows it to assess the battery pack and cells while under the stress of accelerating and decelerating. In addition to reporting battery pack state of health, the HYB-1000 can read and reset diagnostic trouble codes, freeing up diagnostic equipment for more comprehensive service visits. New vehicle models included in the update are the Cadillac Escalade, Ford Escape Gen II, Ford Fusion, and Honda Insight I and II.
