SAE Membership Dues Structure

Professional Membership (New member) $90.00 + $10.00 initiation fee - Save $10* by joining online.

Renewing Member - $90.00 - save $5* by renewing online.
Sign up for Automatic Renewal and save an additional $5*. SAE will automatically charge your provided credit card at the time of your renewal each year. You will need to update your credit card and business information every year, but won't receive renewal reminders.

Retired Dues Status - $25.00. Must be fully retired from industry and have your age plus years of SAE membership service equal 75 or more. If you qualify, or want to check to see if you do, please contact SAE Customer Service.

Life Members - FREE. After 40 years of paid membership, you will no longer owe any dues. SAE will automatically change your membership to this category when you qualify. Life members must still renew and update their contact information annually.

Student Members (new and renewing) - $10.00. Applicants must be a full time college student pursuing studies leading to any associate, bachelor, masters, or doctoral degree. High school seniors intending to enter engineering may also join with a special application that can be obtained from Customer Service.

SAE Student members may transfer to professional membership and take advantage of reduced dues:
First year professional membership - FREE
2nd year - $40
3rd year - $60
4th year - regular SAE membership dues

Reduced Dues Programs
Current members in good standing who become temporarily unemployed can request a 50% dues reduction* and pay $45 for up to two consecutive years. Also, individuals who are responsible for paying their own dues and earn less than $12,000 USD, may request reduced dues and pay $45*. Contact Customer Service to request either of these options.

Big 10 Program - If there are 10 or more new members from the same company joining at the same time, each member can get a discount of $20* for the first year of membership. Contact Customer Service to sign up.

Volunteer Discount - Non-members currently active on an SAE Standards or Meetings Activity committee, AWIM, FSAE, and other volunteer groups, can join SAE the first year for $20.00* off their first year of membership. ($80.00).

SAE membership benefits continue for 12 full months and expire at the end of the month in which you join, one year later.
