Marc Parent, Vice President and General Manager - Operations, Toronto Site, Bombardier Aerospace

Marc's career with Bombardier, and as a member of SAE, is an excellent example of the breadth of opportunities available through the mobility industries and SAE.

Marc Parent joined Canadair after graduating from École Polytechnique de Montréal, Université de Montréal in 1984. During this time, he was a member of the SAE Poly Student Branch and served as that chapter's Vice Chairman.

Following work as an aerodynamicist and design engineer, he became Technical Project Manager for the Challenger 604 program in 1993. During this period, Marc was active in the Montreal Section of SAE, organized an Aerodesign Student Design Competition, won SAE Outstanding and Distinguished Younger Member Awards, served as Section Chair, and was a member of the SAE Sections Board. Simultaneously, he was an active member of the A-5 Technical Committee - Aerospace Landing Gear Systems.

In 1995, Marc was promoted to Project Director for the Dash 8 400 aircraft, then to Vice President, Program Management for new Bombardier Aerospace Aircraft Products. Marc also received the Forest R. McFarland Award for his innovative SAE conference planning activities and served as a member of the SAE International Board of Directors from 1996-1998.

Marc was subsequently appointed as Vice President - Operations at Bombardier's de Havilland Site in Toronto. During this period, Marc served as a member of the SAE Strategic Planning Committee and Aerospace Program Office.

Marc's most recent appointment is Vice President and General Manager of Operations, Toronto Site, where he has the overall responsibility for the manufacturing facility.

Marc sits on the SAE Foundation Board of Directors, sponsors Children International, is a guest lecturer, and enjoys mentoring students. His hobbies include downhill skiing, sailing, camping, and reading.
