SAE schedules on-board diagnostics TOPTEC

Warrendale, PA -, Aug. 12, 1999 - The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE International) will hold its On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) TOPTEC on August 30 through September 1, 1999 in Indianapolis, Indiana. This educational TOPical, TEChnical workshop will feature the latest developments, regulatory changes and implications of OBD II to the worldwide automotive and truck industries.

The meeting will be divided into two distinct agendas: the first portion will address the concerns of the light-duty community and will consider automotive issues including current and upcoming OBD regulations, aftermarket concerns, and service issues. The second part will concentrate on the problems that face heavy-duty gas and diesel vehicles.

The three-day meeting will include presentations from leading experts from government, OEMs, and the repair and aftermarket industries. Discussion periods will allow for ample opportunity to interact with the experts and to share experiences with other professionals from around the country.

The TOPTEC will also feature a special post-TOPTEC workshop, "Basic Principles for the Development of On-Board Diagnostics." This one-day course will teach engineers how to design diagnostic monitors to detect malfunctions in the emission control systems on motor vehicles.
