Priya Prasad Named Winner of SAE International Arnold W. Siegel International Transportation Safety Award
WARRENDALE, Pa., June 14, 2011 - Priya Prasad, president of Prasad Consulting, LLC, was honored with the SAE International Arnold W. Siegel International Transportation Safety Award during the SAE 2011 World Congress.
Established in 1987, this award recognizes individuals whose accomplishments include outstanding international research, innovation and contributions to crash injury protection, crash injury biomechanics and crash injury design for all mobility vehicles. Nominees are leaders in their fields who have made a significant transportation safety impact on their organizations or on society worldwide.
Before entering into business as an automotive safety consultant in 2008, Dr. Prasad spent 35 years at Ford Motor Company in various automotive safety related positions. As a technical fellow for 13 of those years, he handled research and advanced engineering for both active and passive safety.
Dr. Prasad has published more than 100 technical papers and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, as well as a Fellow of SAE International and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. He has received awards from the Department of Transportation, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the State of Michigan, and he has also been recognized by the International Research Council on Biomechanics of Injury, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and the Automotive Occupant Restraints Council for his lifetime contributions to automotive safety.
Dr. Prasad holds a PhD in Biomechanics from Wayne State University in Detroit.
