Collegiate Innovations Fly High in Fort Worth
FORT WORTH, TX, June 25, 2004 - Forty-four (44) collegiate teams competed in last weekend's SAE Aero Design West Competition. The event, part of the SAE Collegiate Design Series, was hosted by the Lockheed Martin Corporation in association with the Fort Worth Thunderbirds Radio Control Association, Inc.
SAE Aero Design West is the second of two collegiate aerospace engineering competitions held in North America each year. The event is the culmination of a hands-on education process that challenges teams to transition engineering concepts to real world application by designing and building an unmanned aerospace vehicle (UAV) that can take flight under its own power and is capable of carrying additional weight.
