Allan G. Ball to Receive the 2004 AEM Outstanding Young Engineer Award

Warrendale, PA, Oct. 6, 2004 - Allan G. Ball has been selected to receive the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) 2004 Outstanding Young Engineer Award. Ball will be presented with the award at the banquet during the 2004 SAE Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress & Exhibition on Wednesday, October 27, 2004. The Congress will be held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in the Metro Chicago area of Illinois, October 26-28.

This award recognizes an outstanding young engineer in the off-highway or powerplant industry. Candidates are judged on their innovation, leadership, teamwork, integrity, community involvement, and leadership in SAE or AEM activities. The candidate must be a degreed engineer from the off-highway or powerplant industry with less than 10 years of industry experience.

Ball is currently a project manager in the Manufacturing Services Department at Volvo Motor Graders Ltd. in Goderich, Ontario, where he works on optimizing the though-put of the assembly and painting processes. Prior to moving to Manufacturing Services, he spent 5 years in the Design Engineering Department and focused on fatigue design of welded steel structures in the motor grader frame, axles, drawbar, and blade. Ball has been a member of SAE for 7 years, and has been active on the SAE Southwestern Ontario Governing Board.

Ball holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada.
