Honda Announced as Host Company for the SAE 2015 World Congress - International Automotive Supplier Continental to Join as the Tier One Strategic Partner

WARRENDALE, Pa., March 20, 2014 -

SAE International today announced that Honda will provide Executive Leadership for the SAE 2015 World Congress. International automotive supplier Continental will serve as Honda’s Tier One Strategic Partner for the engineering profession’s preeminent three-day event, which takes place April 21-23, 2015 at Cobo Center in Detroit.

This marks the second time that Honda has served as the host company – having served in the Executive Leadership role for the SAE 2009 World Congress.

“We believe in SAE and the value of the World Congress and the entire team at Honda is very excited to serve as the host company for 2015,” said Erik Berkman, President, Honda R&D Americas, Inc. and General Chair for the event.  “Together with SAE and our trusted partner Continental we look forward to leading the discussion and engaging with the global community of automotive engineers in order to take the World Congress to the next level.”

“Continental is proud to partner with Honda to support the SAE 2015 World Congress,” said Samir Salman, CEO Continental North America. “SAE World Congress is a critical element to our industry – an opportunity to come together to discuss the most topical issues facing engineers today.”

Andrew Smart, Director, Industry Relations and Business Development at SAE International, said both Honda and Continental will provide valuable input and support to the conference. “The host company that provides Executive Leadership and Tier One Strategic Partner are crucial components to the success of each SAE World Congress,” he said. “Both Honda and Continental are leaders in the automotive industry and automotive engineering, and we look forward to their leadership as we plan the 2015 World Congress.”

“Since Honda last hosted the event in 2009, the SAE World Congress has undergone a significant reinvention, just as the automotive industry has. Honda played part of that reinvention of the World Congress and, through their leadership, has helped position this event for continued success long into the future,” Patti Kreh, Manager of Engineering Meetings for SAE International, said.

The SAE 2014 World Congress will be held April 8-10 in Detroit. For more information about the SAE World Congress, visit http://www.sae.org/congress/. To request media credentials, email pr@sae.org or call 1-724-772-8522.
