Kevin V. Tallio Named SAE International Fellow

WARRENDALE, Pa., April 24, 2014 -

SAE International announced that Dr. Kevin V. Tallio was elected as a 2013-2014 SAE Fellow. Tallio was one of 22 Fellow inductees recognized during ceremonies at the 2014 SAE World Congress, April 8-10 in Detroit, Michigan.


Tallio is a senior technical leader, Base Engine Design, for Ford’s Global Engine Engineering Organization. Tallio began his career at Ford’s Engine Research Department at the Scientific Research Laboratory, developing performance and combustion simulation models and experimental tools to improve engine design. He moved to Product Development in 1999 and was significant in design and development leadership.

His current work for Ford defines new and upgraded global engine architectures. He has led the technical team in product development for the last six years, improving the development of new engine architectures, ranging from the 2.0 liter Ecoboost to the modern version of the 5.0 liter V8. He has five patents for engine design and has authored 17 technical papers.

Tallio received the Frederic O. Hess Combustion Fellowship Award from Drexel University. He has served as organizer and chair for 10 technical sessions at SAE Conferences. He served on the Scientific Advisory Board of the USA/India Noise and Vibration Symposium and served as a session co-chair for the National Science Foundation (NSF)/Michigan State University Fundamentals of Fluid Flow in the Auto Industry Conference. He earned his bachelor, master and doctorate degrees in mechanical engineering from Drexel University.

SAE Fellow is the highest grade of membership bestowed by SAE International. It recognizes outstanding engineering, scientific and leadership accomplishments by an individual that have resulted in meaningful advances in automotive, aerospace, and commercial vehicle technologies. The program, established in 1975, recognizes an average of 20 recipients worldwide for this honor each year.
