Escort Provides Performance Meters For SAE Vehicle Dynamics Seminar

WARRENDALE, PA,, Feb. 11, 2005 - Students in SAE Applied Vehicle Dynamics seminars will be getting a little more help than they've been used to.

Escort, Inc., has given 12 Passport G-Timer GT2 performance meters for the cars involved in the classes. The units display real-time longitudinal, lateral and combined acceleration force data.

The meters help reinforce what is learned during the classes, explains James Walker Jr., SAE instructor for the seminars that are conducted at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex in western Pennsylvania. "In our initial offering, we learned that some of the students were not yet 'calibrated' to the extent that they could discern subtle changes in vehicle behavior during all of the exercises. The G-Timer allowed those students to make better objective observations and reinforced the concepts learned in the classroom through real-time data presentation."

Paul Allen, the G-Timer's product manager, agreed with Walker's observation and responded by furnishing enough units so each car used in the seminar would have the capacity to produce real-time longitudinal and lateral g-force data.

The SAE Applied Vehicle Dynamics Seminar alternates between classroom time (covering basic vehicle dynamics theory) and driving time (theory is illustrated with relevant exercises). Seminars in 2005 will be held in May and October.
