Dr. Robert J. Kainz Receives 2003 International Leadership Citation

Warrendale, PA, June 16, 2003 - Dr. Robert J. Kainz, Senior Manager at DaimlerChrysler Corporation, received the 2003 International Leadership Citation. He was presented the award on March 4, 2003 during the Honors Convocation at the annual SAE World Congress in Detroit, Michigan.

This citation, established in 1988, recognizes an individual who is well known internationally for continuous professional involvement and participation in SAE meetings, conferences, and congresses and who has demonstrated unique assistance and support in helping SAE achieve its international goals and objectives.

Dr. Kainz joined the DaimlerChrysler Corporation in 1991 as a Senior Air Specialist, and during the past several years has held positions of increasing responsibility, including handling the release of regulated materials in all facilities supporting the former Chrysler Corporation plants. He now is responsible for the regulatory strategies and policies that are associated with the corporation's pollution prevention and life cycle programs.

Previously, Dr. Kainz served in the U.S. Government with assignments in the Department of Defense and Department of Justice. He has also served on expert panels for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Centers for Disease Control, the National Academy of Science and the Agile Manufacturing Forum at Lehigh University. His participation in outside professional organizations includes SAE, the United Kingdom Royal Society of Health and local service organizations.

Dr. Kainz has his baccalaureate degree from Eastern Michigan University, his master and doctorate degrees from Tulane University, and a Congressional Fellowship in Science Policy at the Congressional Research Service, U.S. Congress.

Additionally, Dr. Kainz is a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran retired from the U.S. Army. He is married with one child.
