Journalists Invited to Attend SAE Foundation Celebration - May 22 at Detroit Masonic Temple

WARRENDALE, Pa., May 20, 2014 -

The SAE Foundation will hold its Annual Celebration on Thursday, May 22 at the Detroit Masonic Temple, 500 Temple Street, Detroit. Reception begins at 6 p.m. and the dinner and program begins at 7 p.m.

 

During the evening, the 2014 SAE Industry & Leadership Awards will be presented. Osamu “Simon” Nagata, president and CEO of Toyota’s North American manufacturing and engineering operations, will receive the Industry Leadership Award, which recognizes outstanding leadership in the mobility industry.

 

Other honorees include:

·         The Stefan Pischinger Young Industry Leadership Award recognizes the accomplishments of individuals with less than 12 years of industry experience. The recipients are Sridhar Raveendran of Caterpillar Electronics and Yanping Xia of Delphi Automotive Systems.

·         The Ableson Award for Visionary Leadership Award recognizes an individual who has exhibited exemplary leadership benefiting SAE International, the SAE Foundation, and/or the SAE Foundation Canada. The recipient is Joseph B. Anderson Jr., Chaiman of TAG Holdings LLC.

·         The Gordon Millar Award recognizes an individual or organization that best demonstrates continuous philanthropic support of the SAE Foundation’s mission. The recipient is the Toyota USA Foundation.

Local students will present exhibits from their participation in SAE International’s STEM education programs - A World In Motion, F1 in Schools and the Collegiate Design Series.

 

Proceeds from this annual fundraiser benefit the SAE Foundation, which addresses one of the most pressing issues facing industry today - the decline of students enrolling in science and technology programs – by providing programs that bring math and science to life and sow the seeds of endless possibilities for today's students.
