SAE International Launches Ride-and-Drive at Co-located Symposia in Plymouth, Michigan

WARRENDALE, Pa., July 3, 2014 -

SAE International’s Transmission and Driveline Symposium and All-Wheel Drive Symposium will be co-located at The Inn at Saint John’s in Plymouth, Michigan this upcoming October 14-16.  With the return of the Ride-and-Drive feature at the GM Proving Grounds, the two events will culminate, allowing attendees of both the All-Wheel Drive Symposium and the Transmission and Driveline Symposium to directly experience the innovative technologies that the symposia will cover.

The Ride and Drive will be a day-long conclusion to the technical sessions and will provide attendees with actual demonstrations as well as a hands-on opportunity to test technology that industry leading suppliers and manufacturers will be revealing in their presentations.  Over 25 cars will be coming from the biggest names in the automotive industry including Audi, Ford Motor Co., Eaton, Magna Powertrain, Borg Warner, Dana, as well as 8 other suppliers and OEMs.

SAE International’s co-located events will also have the distinct privilege of welcoming Mr. Michael Olechiw and Mr. Tom Murphy, who will be functioning as opening and closing Keynote speakers.  Murphy, the Executive Editor at Ward’s AutoWorld Magazine has been writing within the automotive industry since 1997, making him an integral aspect to this year’s Transmission and Driveline Symposium and All-Wheel Drive Symposium.  Olechiw, currently the Director of the Light-duty Vehicle and Small Engine Center at the EPA, will be opening the week with an intellectual examination of Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) Standards as well as other governmental projects and strategies.

The 2014 Transmission and Driveline Symposium will be geared toward finding unique opportunities to influence developing technology, hear presentations by leading industry experts, and explore technical applications for transmission technologies.  To sign up for this symposium, visit

Those in attendance of the 2014 All-Wheel Drive Symposium will delve into the challenges of developing all-wheel drive technologies that will balance the weight and friction that is created by these drivetrain systems.  Individuals will engage in discussions on maximizing drivetrain efficiencies, fuel economy, lightweighting methods, and other topics that will spark future innovations.  In order to attend the All-Wheel Drive Symposium, visit
