AISI Sponsors Media Center for SAE 2005 International Government/Industry Meeting

Washington, DC, May 12, 2005 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) is pleased to be a sponsor of the SAE International 2005 Government/Industry Meeting being held May 9 - 11 at the Loews L'Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington, D.C. AISI is sponsoring the media center.

AISI is committed to working together with its partners in government and in the automotive industry toward the common goal of making vehicles that are safe, environmentally friendly and energy efficient.

"We are particularly pleased to be a sponsor this year, as SAE International celebrates its 100th Anniversary," Ron Krupitzer, AISI senior director, automotive applications, said. "It is an opportunity for AISI members to join with the automotive industry to celebrate a century of transportation milestones and technological advancements, and to recognize the people who have helped to shape the world of transportation today."

AISI serves as the voice of the North American steel industry in the public policy arena and advances the case for steel in the marketplace as the preferred material of choice. AISI also plays a lead role in the development and application of new steels and steelmaking technology. AISI is comprised of 32 member companies, including integrated and electric furnace steelmakers, and 118 associate and affiliate members who are suppliers to or customers of the steel industry. AISI's member companies represent approximately 75 percent of both U.S. and North American steel capacity. For more news about steel and its applications, view AISI's website at www.steel.org.
