Ecole de Technologie Superieure Scores 3-Peat in SAE Mini Baja Competition

WARRENDALE, Pa., June 21, 2005 - Ecole de Technologie Superieure, Montreal, swept first-place overall in all three 2005 SAE Mini Baja events, and in doing so made history.

The Canadian engineering school's team is the first since the Mini Baja competition began in 1976 to capture first-place overall in all events during a single season.

The 2005 Society of Automotive Engineer's Mini Baja® series, completed Sunday in Troy, Ohio, consisted of three regional competitions - Mini Baja East (Rochester, NY), Mini Baja 100 (Green Valley, Ariz.) and Mini Baja Midwest (Troy, Ohio). The competition focuses on simulating real-world engineering design projects and the challenges that go with them. Participating engineering students are tasked to design and build an off-road vehicle that will survive rough terrain, and, in the case of the East competition, even water.

The object of the competition is to provide SAE student members with a challenging project that involves the planning and manufacturing tasks found when introducing a new product to the consumer industrial market.
