New SAE International Presentation Explores Use of Lightweight Materials in Vehicles

WARRENDALE, Pa., April 21, 2016 - SAE International offers a new webinar presentation that will address how automakers and suppliers go about selecting advanced materials for their programs, which materials hold the most promise, as well as the challenges and opportunities posed by multimaterial vehicles.

Part of the Technical Webinar Series from the Editors of SAE International, “Multimaterial Lightweighting” will be held on Wednesday, May 4 at 12 p.m. U.S. EDT. The program is sponsored by Dow Automotive, Henkel, Intertek, Altair, ArcelorMittal and Proto Labs.

The quest to improve the fuel economy of vehicles is not waning, nor is the desire to achieve higher mpg through the use of just the right lightweight material for the right vehicle application. Advanced high-strength steel, aluminum, magnesium, composites, and other materials are all on the table to fulfill the industry’s safety and lightweighting goals.

Attendees will be invited to ask questions during the webinar’s Q&A segment.
