Hideyuiki Ogawa of Hokkaido University Named SAE International Fellow
WARRENDALE, Pa., May 26, 2016 - SAE International announces that Hideyuki Ogawa was elected as a 2015-2016 SAE Fellow. Dr. Ogawa was one of 18 Fellow inductees recognized during ceremonies at the 2016 SAE World Congress, April 12-14 in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Ogawa is a professor at Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan, teaching within the energy and environmental systems department. He has been employed at Hokkaido University since 1986 when he graduated there with his PhD in engineering.
He was recognized as an SAE Fellow for being an internationally renowned leading expert in experimental research on diesel combustion, including fuel property effects and low temperature premixed diesel combustion. He has made significant contributions to the establishment of clean and efficient diesel engine combustion with his research.
Dr. Ogawa is well known for his continued professional research outcomes accomplishing many joint researches with automotive and petroleum companies. He has authored numerous distinguished combustion related pieces appearing in several different engine research journals.
Dr. Ogawa has been continually involved with SAE committees holding chair, co-chair, and session organizer positions. He has been the recipient of several SAE International and Japan SAE awards including, Horning Memorial Award from Society of Automotive Engineers, Fellow of Japan Society of Automotive Engineers, Contribution Award from Japan Society of Automotive Engineers, and Best Paper Award from Japan Society of Automotive Engineers.
SAE Fellow is the highest grade of membership bestowed by SAE International. It recognizes outstanding engineering, scientific and leadership accomplishments by an individual that have resulted in meaningful advances in automotive, aerospace, and commercial vehicle technologies. The program, established in 1975, recognizes an average of 20 recipients worldwide for this honor each year.
