SAE International Publishes New Standard to Establish Common Requirements for Aerospace Supply Chain
WARRENDALE, Pa., June 20, 2016 - SAE International’s G-14 Americas Aerospace Quality Standards Committee (AAQSC) announces the publication of the new technical standard, “AS9117: Delegated Product Release Verification.”
AS9117 specifies requirements for Delegated Product Release Verification (DPRV) to establish common product/service requirements for use at all levels of the supply chain.
The process for DPRV varies from one organization to another. Implementation of a standard process reduces the risk of escapes in the aviation, space, and defense industry supply chain, when the organization’s product release verification has been delegated to a supplier.
This new standard will apply when an organization elects to delegate product release verification by contractual flow down to their supplier (reference 9100 and 9110 standards); to perform product acceptance on their behalf.

The SAE G-14 Americas Aerospace Quality Standards Committee (AAQSC) committee addresses all facets of aerospace quality-design, maintenance, and in-service experience. The group is dedicated to creating, preparing, and maintaining all relevant specifications, standards, and requirements for aerospace quality systems. Improvement in quality through variance reduction in processes and procedures is the continual focus of the committee. Participants in the SAE G-14 committee include OEMs, suppliers, processors, consulting firms, government, and others across the aerospace and defense industries.
The SAE G-22 Aero Engine Supplier Quality (AESQ) Committee is established as a Technical Committee under the SAE Aerospace Council to develop, specify, maintain and promote quality standards specific to the Aero Engine supply chain. This is intended to reduce customer specifics through a focused set of standards that integrate industry best practice and aero engine unique elements. The objectives of the AESQ Committee shall include, but not be limited to developing and promoting Quality Standards for use within the aero engine supply chain; developing training and guidance material to support implementation of the standards and overall development of the supply chain in key areas; and serving as a liaison with government organizations and regulatory bodies in order to review requirements relating to the flow down of quality requirements to the supply chain.
SAE International’s G-22 Aerospace Engine Supplier Quality (AESQ) Committee is currently revising the standard “AS13001 Supplier Self Release Training Requirements” to fully align with AS9117 terminology
