SAE International Issues 100th Anniversary Stamp

WARRENDALE, Pa., Oct. 4, 2005 - It’s not everyday your birthday receives a stamp of approval.  Of course, it’s not everyday you turn 100 years old.

Which is why SAE International is issuing a limited-edition postage stamp to continue with its centennial celebration.

“We are proud to celebrate this milestone in our organization’s history,” Raymond A. Morris, executive vice president and chief operating officer of SAE International, said. “Now we can deliver that pride with our own commemorative stamp.”

The 37-cent design features an original piece of artwork by Pittsburgh native John Glover honoring the individuals and organizations that have contributed to the success of SAE International in its first century.  The three-panel painting merges the society’s automotive, aerospace and commercial vehicle industries and is housed in SAE International’s world headquarters in Warrendale.

The stamp was created under the authorization of the United States Postal Service.
