David Gonska to Receive SAE/InterRegs Standards and Regulations Award for Young Engineers

WARRENDALE, Pa., Oct. 18, 2005 - David G. GonskaDavid G. Gonska, an engineering manager at ArvinMeritor, Inc., has been selected to receive the SAE/ InterRegs Standards and Regulations Award for Young Engineers. The award will be presented at the 2006 SAE International Government/Industry meeting in Washington, D.C., May 8 – 10, 2006.

This award, established in 2001 by InterRegs, Ltd. and the SAE Foundation, recognizes a practicing engineer under the age of 40 who is involved in standards, regulations or conformity assessment systems which improve safety or reduced emissions in a mobility product. The intent of the award is to encourage participation of young engineers in the standards and regulations development process early in their technical careers.

Gonska joined ArvinMeritor in 2002 and is currently managing the commercial vehicle wheel end and hydraulic brake department. His department’s responsibilities include the design and validation of medium- and heavy-class vehicle brake components. In addition to his primary responsibilities, he has been actively involved in SAE International’s Truck and Bus Wheel subcommittee working to improve the safety of commercial vehicles. Prior to joining ArvinMeritor, Gonska held positions that focused on diesel engine development, hybrid powertrain development and suspension component design.

Gonska has been actively involved with SAE International for the past 13 years in both the standards activity and K-12 educational program, A World in Motion. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the GMI Engineering and Management Institute and a master’s degree in the same subject from the Universityof Michigan, Dearborn. Gonska also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Walsh College.
