SAE International 2017 Government/Industry Meeting Keynote Speaker Line-Up Announced
WARRENDALE, Pa., Dec. 1, 2016 - The SAE 2016 Government/Industry Meeting announces its keynote speakers for the January 25-27 event in Washington, D.C. The Government/Industry Meeting’s technical program features four industry-leading keynote speakers. Each of whom will focus on the future of the automotive industry from different perspectives.
Christopher Grundler, Director of the Office of Transportation and Air Quality at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will kick off the Meeting on Wednesday. Grundler endeavors to protect public health and the environment by reducing air pollution from transportation vehicles, engines, and the fuels used to operate them. Grundler will provide a closer look at how he and his team establish and implement national emissions standards for transportation fuels and vehicles.
Amy Myers Jaffe, Executive Director for Energy and Sustainability at UC Davis and co-author of “Oil, Dollars, Debt and Crises: The Global Curse of Black Gold”, is an expert on global energy policy, geopolitical risk, energy and sustainability. Jaffe serves as a member of the U.S. National Petroleum Council and will use her expertise to provide industry insights during the keynote luncheon.
Doug Sosnik, former senior advisor to President Bill Clinton, will present his keynote address over lunch on Thursday. Sosnik played a key role in policy, strategy, and communications decisions during his time at the White House. Sosnik will draw on his time spent in the political arena to give attendees insight into the White House and Capitol Hill’s most powerful offices.
Nathaniel Beuse, Associate Administrator for Vehicle Safety Research at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will host the final keynote session. Beuse is responsible for NHTSA’s vehicle safety research activities to reduce fatalities and injuries caused by motor vehicle crashes. Beuse will provide insight on how the results of the research support federal motor vehicle safety standards, consumer information programs, guidelines, and advance the state of the industry on a wide variety of vehicle programs.
The technical program will also feature an additional 24 sessions on a variety of topics including cyber security and privacy, electric drive, vehicle safety ratings, advanced automatic collision notification, biomechanics, crashworthiness, connected vehicles, advanced materials/lightweighting, autonomous vehicles and much more.
The SAE 2017 Government/Industry Meeting will offer a valuable attendee experience, comprised of a three-day conference program exploring the future of the automotive industry based on incoming legislation and regulations and provide industry professionals the opportunity to communication directly with regulatory groups on these issues.
