SAE International Tire Book Updated, Expanded

WARRENDALE, Pa., Nov. 1, 2005 - SAE International’s newest tire book serves as a resource for design engineers and students in the automotive, commercial vehicle and aerospace industries.   

 Hans Pacejka’s Tire and Vehicle Dynamics, 2ed covers basic and advanced tire modeling and simulation, including case studies, application examples and chapter exercises.  The book also explains Pacejka’s “magic formula,” a tire model widely accepted by vehicle manufacturers worldwide.

This expanded and updated version of Pacejka’s first edition has two new chapters:

·           Short Wavelength Intermediate Frequency Tire Model

·           Tire Steady-State and Dynamic Test Facilities

Pacejka is a former professor of mechanical engineering at Delft University of Technology.  He has written papers on vehicle handling and stability, vehicle steering vibrations, tire mechanics and system dynamics.  He received an honorary doctorate from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
