SAE Supermilage Returning to Marshall Michigan on June 8-9

WARRENDALE, Pa., May 22, 2017 - SAE International’s Collegiate Design Series Competition, Supermileage, will return to the Eaton Proving Grounds in Marshall, Mich., on June 8-9.

SAE Supermileage is an engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate students. The goal of SAE Supermileage is to develop and construct a single-person, fuel-efficient vehicle that complies with the competition rules. Vehicles run a specified course at the proving grounds to obtain the highest combined miles-per-gallon rating. Students also participate in a design segment consisting of a written report and verbal presentation.

The competition also gives students the opportunity to set a world fuel economy record and increase public awareness of fuel economy.

In 2016, the team from Universite Laval in Quebec City, Canada, captured its third consecutive Supermileage title with an astonishing 3,788 miles per gallon.

Approximately 30 teams are expected to compete this year.
