SAE International Honored for Preserving Auto History

WARRENDALE, Pa., Oct. 11, 2006 - SAE International has earned the James J. Bradley Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Automotive Historians' (SAH).

The award was presented Oct. 6, during the SAH annual banquet in Hershey, Pa.  It honors archives and libraries for exemplary efforts in preserving motor vehicle resource materials.

SAE International joins a list of past recipients that includes societies, museums and halls of fame from Australia, France, Italy, Germany, the U.K., and the U.S.

In addition, SAE International's book, "Pioneers, Engineers, and Scoundrels" by Beverly Rae Kimes was honored by the SAH with the Nicholas-Joseph Cugnot Award for best book of the year. 

This marks the third award received by the book since it was published for the organization's 100th anniversary in 2005.
