SAE International Names New Foundation Director

WARRENDALE, Pa., Oct. 27, 2006 - Carson S. Walburn is the new director of the SAE Foundation.

Part of SAE International, the SAE Foundation supports and nurtures students' enthusiasm for science and technology through educational outreach programs, awards and scholarships. Programs such as "A World In Motion" and the Collegiate Design Series offer hands-on learning through fun and challenging curricula to elementary school and college students.

As director of the SAE Foundation, Walburn will be responsible for Foundation operations that include management of all membership giving programs, design and implementation of development activities, and fostering and managing Board relations. In addition, he will manage historic corporate donor relationships, develop and cultivate new donor relationships, and provide strategic management of SAE Foundation Canada.

Prior to joining SAE International, Walburn was executive director of development at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa.  While at Washington & Jefferson, Walburn was responsible for all development operations including annual and reunion giving, major gifts, gift planning and development support services.

Walburn began his development career at Harvard Business School in Boston, Mass., where he served as assistant director of the Harvard Business School Fund. 

Before entering the development field, Walburn spent six years in the financial industry working as an investment strategist.

Walburn holds a master's degree in non-profit management from Robert Morris University and a bachelor's degree in international relations from Bridgewater College of Virginia.
