SAE International's 2006 Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress a Success

WARRENDALE, Pa., Nov. 10, 2006 - Nearly 3,000 professionals from 28 countries representing the on and off-highway sectors attended the 2006 SAE Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress & Exhibition – both figures represent increase over last year. Those attending included engineers, suppliers and manufacturers. The agenda for the conference featured technical sessions and presentations, panel discussions, a global CEO panel, and an exhibit showcasing 149 companies and their technology and products.

Mark Pflederer, Vice President, Commercial Vehicle for SAE International, was pleased with the event. "From my perspective the 2006 Commercial Vehicle Congress was the best yet.  More exhibitors and more technical presentations combined to attract even more attendees. I am confident 2007 will continue to build on this tradition," he said.

The annual banquet featured a keynote address by Carl Mack, executive director of the National Society of Black Engineers. Several awards were also presented at the banquet, including the AEM Outstanding Young Engineer Award, the SAE Sid Olsen Engineering Manager Award, and the Forest R. McFarland Award.

Herb Kaufman, Director of Commercial Vehicle Business and Chief Technology Officer for SAE International, feels that the event has grown into an important part of the commercial vehicle industry. Now in its third year, this event has really become a unique part of the global commercial vehicle industry – unique because its sessions and exhibits offer attendees the latest and most comprehensive technology from around the world that is currently available to the on-road and off-road sectors."

The 2007 SAE Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress & Exhibition will be held Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill.
