Boeing Fellow Receives SAE Air Transportation Progress Award

WARRENDALE, Pa., Dec. 12, 2006 -

Nikhilesh ShethNikhilesh Sheth, Associate Technical Fellow of The Boeing Company, has been selected to receive SAE International's Franklin W. Kolk Air Transportation Progress Award.  He will be presented the award at the SAE AeroTech Congress and Exhibition in Los Angeles, September 2007.

The award, established in 1978, recognizes an individual for contributing to air transportation and/or the work of the SAE aerospace technical committees.  The award commemorates the late Franklin W. Kolk and his contributions to the advancement of civil air transportation and SAE International.

Sheth works for the Commercial Aviation Services division of The Boeing Company, where he mentors and consults engineers worldwide. As a Boeing representative, he is active in the SAE Commercial Aircraft Composite Repair Committee.  He is also a Federal Aviation Administration Authorized Representative.  During his 25-year career in the aerospace industry, Sheth has also worked for the Northrop Corporation. 

Sheth has authored three publications and has earned numerous awards, including the SAE Technical Standards Board Outstanding Contribution Award.  He is a member of SAE International, Long Beach Boeing Management Association, American Society of Engineers of Indian Origin, and Viashnav Parivar.

Sheth holds two bachelor's degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering from Gujartat University, India.  He received his master's in business administration from Northern Illinois University and his master's in aeronautics from Cal State Polytechnic, Pomona.
