Detroit Automotive Consultant to Receive SAE International Leadership Citation

WARRENDALE, Pa., March 9, 2007 - Richard PaulRichard Paul, an automotive industry consultant, has been selected to receive SAE International's International Leadership Citation.  He will be presented the award during the SAE 2007 World Congress in Detroit, April 16-19.

This award, established in 1988, recognizes an individual known internationally for supporting SAE through continued professional involvement and participation in SAE meetings.

The SAE Foundation funds this award.  In addition to supporting the awards, recognition and scholarship programs of SAE International, the SAE Foundation develops and funds programs and incentives that foster student interest in engineering, scientific and technical education.

Paul provides environmental and research management to automotive companies, trade associations and other companies based in the U.S., Europe and Asia.  Previously, he was an environmental health manager for the American Automobile Manufacturers Association and a research biologist for the U.S. Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Paul has authored 13 publications, the most recent focusing on vehicle recycling research.  SAE International has honored Paul with the Distinguished Service Award, Quality Paper Award and Certificate of Achievement.  He has also received a Certificate of Appreciation and a Distinguished Service Award from the Air and Waste Management Association and the Department of Veterans Administration, respectively. 

A member of SAE International, Paul is also a member of the Air and Waste Management Association and the Society of Toxicology.  He received his bachelor's in biology from Oakland University and his master's in science and occupational and environmental health from Wayne State University.
