SAE International Recognized for Workplace Wellness

WARRENDALE, Pa., Oct. 12, 2007 - Helping its employees to live healthy lifestyles long has been a priority at SAE International. Recently, the American Heart Association (AHA) recognized SAE for those efforts.

SAE International was named a Start! Fit Friendly Company, an honor presented to only a handful of organizations in Pittsburgh and less than 50 across Pennsylvania .

What does it mean? In short, it means that SAE International provides the equipment, services and programs to promote health and wellness to its employees.

SAE International has been recognized at the Gold Level, which means that it:

  • Offers physical activity at the worksite, including an exercise room and a fitness studio 
  • Has increased the number of healthy eating options available
  • Promotes a wellness culture at the worksite
  • Embraces at least nine criteria as outlined by the AHA in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture

“This distinction is an honor and it is something that makes us very proud,” Raymond A. Morris, Executive Vice President and COO of SAE International, said. “We’ve always said that our most valuable resource is our employees. That’s not just a slogan; it’s something that we truly believe. Providing the tools and resources to help our employees stay healthy is an important part of our culture at SAE International.”

Other offerings at SAE International that contributed to the award include: 10,000 Step Challenge, onsite Weight Watchers programs, walking trail, personal nutrition coaching, CPR and first aid training, annual health risk assessments and, wellness and safety committees.

SAE International will receive its award at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, at Butler County Community College .
