Media Advisory � SAE Aero Design� West Competition

WARRENDALE, Pa., March 26, 2008 - Model aircraft, designed and built from scratch by college engineering students, will take to the skies of Texas during SAE International’s Aero Design West competition, April 4-6.

The event will feature more than 50 teams from the United States, Canada and Mexico, who will participate in technical judging and flight competitions, including lifting as much as 50 pounds of payload.

Aero Design West is one of nine annual educational competitions hosted throughout the by SAE International, the world’s pre-eminent society for establishing standards for the automotive, aerospace and commercial vehicle industries. The events challenge students to design and build vehicles – airplanes, open-wheel race cards, Baja-style vehicles and snowmobiles – for competitions that require meeting specific engineering challenges.
