Jack Heyler Award

Description
This award provides working technicians with travel assistance so they may participate in Service Technology Office leadership training and leadership opportunities. Award recipients will have an opportunity to work with others to develop strategic plans, communicate issues, develop valued interpersonal skills, create industry programs and implement leadership.

The award was created by the Service Technology Office Board of Governors to honor John Boyd Heyler, also known as "Old Wrench." Mr. Heyler's influence in the automotive industry has been significant because of his activities in service technology and in particular the development of industry standards for OBD systems.

The Award
Established in 2002, this award is administered by the SAE Service Technology Office. Award recipients are presented with a plaque and honorarium for travel expenses.
