Heavy Truck Handling, Dynamics and Control the Topics of SAE Symposium

Warrendale, PA (April 25, 2005) - SAE International will hold the Heavy Truck Handling, Dynamics & Control Symposium May 3-5 in Greenville, SC.

Terry K. Gettys, president, Michelin Americas Research and Development Corporation, will provide the welcoming remarks for the symposium. Michelin is the host company for the Symposium.

Featured topics include technologies that provide an extra measure of safety for truck operators, as well as an overview of The Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research.

Truck Demo Day is May 5, the last day of the Symposium, and will be held at the Laurens Proving Grounds.

Vehicle providers for the demos include Bendix, Hendrickson, Iteris, MeritorWABCO, and Michelin.

Demos will include:

  • J-Turn Stability Control;
  • Wet Lateral Adherence;
  • Dry Handling;
  • X-One Blowout;
  • Adaptive Cruise Control/Lane Departure Warning;
  • Thermal Imaging;
  • Coastdown

The Laurens Proving Ground is Michelin's on-vehicle test facility for all of North America. The 3,000-acre site holds more than a dozen special tracks for tire and suspension system testing.
