Andrea Brazzale to Receive the 2005 AEM Outstanding Young Engineer Award
Warrendale, PA (August 8, 2005) - Andrea Brazzale, Commercial Project Manager, Caterpillar Inc., has been selected to receive the Association of Equipment Engineers (AEM) 2005 Outstanding Young Engineer Award. Brazzale will be presented with the award at the banquet during the 2005 SAE Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress & Exhibition on Wednesday, November 2. The Congress will be held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in the Metro Chicago area of Illinois, November 1-3, 2005.
This award annually recognizes an outstanding young engineer in the off-highway or powerplant industry. Candidates are judged on their innovation, leadership, teamwork, integrity, community involvement, and leadership in SAE. The candidate must be a degreed engineer from the off-highway or powerplant industry with less than 10 years of industry experience. The award is administered under the auspices of the SAE Engineering Meetings Board in cooperation with AEM.
Brazzale works in the Technology & Solutions Division of Caterpillar, Inc., where she applies her business and technical skills to create license partnerships, joint ventures, spin-out and spin-in opportunities. She joined Caterpillar in 1998 as a design engineer in the Transmission Business Unit. Her responsibilities included new product introduction, and quality and reliability. In 2001, she became a 6 Sigma Black Belt, working on a diverse range of projects from engineering to manufacturing. In 2004, she assumed her current role.
Brazzale, a native of Arlington, Texas, graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical
engineering. She has served as a governing board member for SAE's Central Illinois Section for 5 years, acting as 2003-2004 Section Chair. She has participated
in the SAE Earthmoving Industry Conference, SAE's A World in Motion, a program for increasing interest in math and science at the grade-school level, and
