Inergy Goes Further With Its Integrated Fluid System For The Adblue-Scr Technology Implementation

Increasingly strict emission regulations require the automobile industry to develop technologies that reduce CO2, NOx and particulate matters in diesel vehicles.  Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology is a thoroughly tested and effective method of cleaning up exhaust gases, developed for use in heavy duty and passenger vehicles to meet Euro 6 and US Tier 2 Bin 5 requirements.  An aqueous urea solution, called AdBlue® is sprayed into exhaust gases, then transformed by hydrolysis into ammonia, which reacts with NOx inside the catalytic converter and transform them into harmless nitrogen and water vapor.

Inergy Automotive Systems, leading global Tier 1 supplier of complete plastic Fuel Systems to the automobile industry, has developed DINOX, a brand new technology integrating system functions covering - filling, storing, venting and heating - into a plastic urea tank and offers options such as temperature, fluid level and quality sensors, according to customer specifications and demand. The DINOX system includes also urea supply, system controls and injection, which makes it cover all required functions.

The EPA guidance document on use of SCR technology recommends the use of a high tank volume through shape optimization, an easy and versatile filling system, an efficient heating system and a level sensing strategy.

Several tank architectures have been customized to demonstrate the flexibility of DINOX for easy integration into passenger cars as well as light and heavy duty vehicles.  Depending on customer requirements, INERGY proposes the integration of tanks, up to 30 litres, in the trunk, fender well, spare tire area, under the floor pan or at the filler pipe area, with autonomy adapted to OEM SCR strategy.

Easy access to a refilling orifice (with no risk of odors, stains or urea deposits in vehicle) and convenient refilling solutions from outside passenger/luggage compartment have been developed.  INERGY’s DINOX system is compatible with all known filling systems.

INERGY has carried out on-road tests in extreme hot and cold conditions of it’s DINOX system meeting challenges such as heating, starting and running the system at -30° and optimizing system controls.

INERGY made automotive history in 2006, when it launched a functional concept car, designed by Espera SBARRO teams and equipped with DINOX and INSASTM (other INERGY diesel emission control technologies coping with particulate matters), presented at the Paris Auto Show last September. Since then INERGY has been working successfully on its current obtained SCR business awards.

Inergy Automotive Systems remains at the forefront of pioneering technology in order to be able to accompany its customers into a greener future and has partnered with OEMs and other Tier 1 suppliers in the development of technological platforms.
