Caterpillar's D400E ejector truck body made of heat-treated steel

Caterpillar's ejector body for the D400E articulated truck eliminates carry-back of sticky materials and allows the operator to dump while the truck is moving. As a result, the truck can spread materials at the dumpsite and reduce cycle times. Since the ejector system eliminates the need to raise the body, the truck can dump on side slopes, and it has greater stability when dumping on steep downhill slopes or on unstable ground. It also solves problems with overhead wires and structures. Developed in conjunction with a North American contractor, the ejector truck is rated at 36.3 t (40 ton) and it holds 21.9 m³ (28.6 yd³). The reinforced body is made of high-yield, heat-treated steel that delivers strength and durability without unnecessary weight. Use of high-strength alloy steel for ejector carriage rails and top rails provides additional durability. The ejector truck can lower costs of hauling many materials by improving productivity and reducing spreading assistance.
