623F wheel tractor-scraper from Caterpillar has high-flotation tires
-
Caterpillar's updated 17.6-m³ (23-yd³) 623F Wheel Tractor-Scraper now features a single pivot elevator and infinitely variable-speed elevator control. It incorporates a redesigned rear frame that accommodates new high-flotation tires and improves durability. The scraper is designed for use by small- to medium-sized contractors as the primary hauling tool for site development, road construction, landfills, and other earthmoving projects. Additional uses for the scraper include industrial work and mining, and its popularity in dealer rental fleets is due to its work-alone capability, versatility, and productivity. It can handle many materials, such as dirt, clay, sand, gravel, and some types of rock. The elevator mechanism lifts material away from the cutting edge and into the bowl to reduce loading time. It also breaks up material, which allows it to flow easier and fill the bowl completely. The conditioned material ejects easier, spreads thinner, and compacts better. The new elevator has a single-pivot frame, which eliminates several wear points and daily service points. Cantilever-style wheels on the scraper allow easier access to the brakes, and enable the machine to use a wider tire than its predecessor.
