Articulated trucks from Caterpillar feature oil-immersed disc brakes
-
Caterpillar D350E and D400E II articulated trucks now feature improved drivetrains, oil-immersed disc brakes, redesigned suspensions, and upgraded operator compartments for enhanced productivity, reliability, and operator comfort. The D350E Series II is rated at 31.8 t (35 ton) payload and the D400E Series II has a rated payload of 36.3 t (40 ton). Both models are designed to deliver greater power-to-weight ratios, as well as increased traction and flotation to haul efficiently in difficult terrain, which makes them well suited for applications in general construction, road building, sand and gravel hauling, land restoration, and landfill operations. Featuring electronically controlled Cat engines that deliver higher torque rise and more power, the D350E II now has 265 kW (355 hp). A 7-speed, fully automatic powershift transmission in the D400E II replaces a 4-speed transmission, which optimizes performance. Cross-axle differential lock provides 100% lock-up for the best traction in poor underfoot conditions. Enclosed, oil-immersed and oil-cooled service brakes work under any conditions. Enhanced suspensions extend component life and provide the operator with an improved ride. The operator's compartment features a wrap-around interior, and load-sensing steering gives the operator smooth, precise control.
