Caterpillar 611 wheel tractor-scraper uses cellular bowl construction technology
-
The 611 Wheel Tractor-Scraper, Caterpillar's smallest, open-bowl scraper, has a 11.5-m&179; (15-yd&179;) bowl and a single, 198-kW (265-hp) engine. It is rugged enough to be push-loaded with a tractor as large as a D7 and it can handle a variety of materials. It can load in 30-36 s, travel (loaded) at speeds up to 44.4 km/h (27.6 mi/h), and dump and spread on the go. The scraper is well suited for small- and medium-sized contractors that will use the machine as the primary hauler on jobs that require moving less than 230,000 m&179; (300,000 yd&179;) of material. It is also suitable for utility jobs where load and dump restrictions prohibit the use of larger machines. Highly maneuverable, the machine can turn 180° in an area only 10.2 m (33.4 ft) wide. A contractor can transport this model easily between job sites since the overall width is 3.3 m (10 ft 9 in.), and the overall length is 12.0 m (39.4 in.). Features of this new scraper include cellular bowl construction, crossbeam rear push frame castings, and a round cross tube that handles torsional loads and doubles as a fuel tank.
