Dual-pump propulsion adopted for Caterpillar vibratory soil compactors
-
Caterpillar's CS/CP-563D and CS-583D Vibratory Soil Compactors feature design enhancements that increase machine performance, productivity, durability, reliability and operator comfort. The D-Series compactors fit in the 8-11.9-t (8.8-13.1-ton) machine class, and feature industry-leading gradeability due to an exclusive dual-pump propulsion system. This system provides separate hydraulic flow to the rear wheels and the drum for greater tractive effort in soft, slippery, or steep applications. The system also provides enough power to use a leveling blade for increased job site applications. All three models are powered by a Caterpillar 3116T diesel engine to offer greater performance, fuel economy, and quiet operation. The engine rating is 114 kW (153 hp) at 2200 rpm. The turbocharged engine operates at altitudes as high as 2500 m (8200 ft) without derating. The operator's station on the D-Series compactors has been designed to offer more comfort, visibility, and ease of operation. High tractive effort, useful especially on steep slopes and soft lifts, helps increase the compactor's production and expand its application range. The series has been designed to comply with all applicable OSHA regulations.
